2000 highlights:
hit .286 with a career high 41hr and 118rbi in 146 games between the
yankees and cleveland - made 78 starts (41 in left field, 19 at dh, 16
in right field) after joining new york... after being acquired on 6/30,
led the yankees with 20hr , 60 rbi and a .585 slugging percentage... entering
the 2000 post-season, he has made the most plate appearances in post-season
history, is tied for the most games played with reggie jackson (77) and
is second in post season rbi with 42 (reggie jackson has 48)...with his
two run home run in the fourth inning of 9/25 loss vs. detroit, brought
his season total to 41hr (20 as a yankee and 21 with cleveland) - only
two other players have hit that many homers in a season in which they
played for more than one major league club (mark mcgwire in 1997, 58,
oak-stl; greg vaughn in 1996, 41 mil-sd)... made 66 starts for cleveland
before being traded (24 lf, 20 dh, 22 rf)... hit 250th career hr on 6/6
(with cleveland) at milwaukee... was acquired by the yankees on 6/29 from
the cleveland indians for of ricky ledee and two players to be named later
(rhp zach day and rhp jake westbrook)... made yankee debut on 6/30 at

the fourth inning of 8/1 win over kansas city - it was the first time
a yankee outfielder had recorded two assists in one game since chad curtis
on 6/19/98 at cleveland... equaled his career high with two solo home
runs (#28 in the second and #29 in the fourth) and was 2-for-4 in 8/7
loss vs. seattle - was his first multi hr game as a yankee, 19th of his
career and third of 2000... in 8/8 win vs. oakland, hit ninth inning solo
walk off hr (#30) after bernie williams hit a solo gu to tie the game
- it was the second walk off hr of his career (also 6/28/95 with atlanta
vs. montreal) - it was the third time in the major leagues this season
that games have ended on back to back home runs (also 4/16, cleveland
vs. texas, manny ramirez and jim thorne; and 5/14, anaheim vs. texas,
troy glaus and scott spiezio)... hit solo home runs in the fourth and
eight innings (#33 an 34) in 8/19 win vs. anaheim - it was his second
multi home run game as a yankee the fourth of 2000 and the 20th of his
career... had a stretch of six straight games (7/25-8/1) with multiple
hits... was scratched from 8/21 line up with stiff neck and missed next
two games (8/21-23)... notched his 100th rbi of the season with fourth
inning rbi single on 8/1 vs. kansas city - is the third 100-rbi season
of his career (had career high 120 rbi in 1993 with atlanta and 101rbi
in 1997 with cleveland)... equaled his career high with two home runs
(#39 and 40) and was 2-for-4 with 4rbi and 1bb in 9/23 win vs. detroit
- was the third multi homer game as a yankee (also 8/7 vs. seattle and
8/19 vs. anaheim) fifth of the season and 21st of his career... established
a single season career high with his 41st home run of the season in the
fourth inning (2-run hr) on 9/25 vs. detroit.

latin high school in kentucky...played baseball, basketball, soccer and
ran track and field...was member of basketball all-catholic and all-american
teams his senior year...studies karate in off-season...other hobbies include
swimming, golf, basketball and billiards...donates his time to several
worthy causes, including juvenile diabetes foundation and the boys and
girls clubs of america... served as team spokesperson for the braves\
mci/huggins reading program...delivered frozen turkeys he had purchased
to area hunger centers in cleveland around thanksgiving after the 1997
